Cure for knee pain

Our physiotherapists see lots of people who have unexplained knee pain.  We have a simple cure for knee pain that might work for you.

Lots of our clients have knee, foot, hip, ankle or lower back pain. Some are suffering with more than one of these pains. The people we meet have often had the pain for a while. It is normal that the pain has not been diagnosed.  If you are a runner or do other sports then your discomfort might be exacerbated by activity.  If you are a woman over the age of 40, there’s bad news.  But read on because there is light at the end of the tunnel.

It doesn’t sound fun at all does it? But there is a simple remedy that might work for you. It also works for flat feet.

At all our clinics we sell orthotics, you may have heard them called insoles.  Here are some ways they might be able to help and some clues to look for that say you might need them.

Posture

If you need a healing boost to your posture, orthotics might be the answer. Inserting a custom insole can improve your biomechanics.  That’s how your body moves. We’re serious. Aches and pains can be caused by bad posture. And the correct supply and fitting of orthotics can help improve quality of life by reducing pain.  We’re not saying they are a substitute for exercise or a healthy lifestyle, but they might just give you the boost you need.

Flat Feet

You know you have flat feet if the soles of your feet roll too far inward. You can get a diagnosis from a physiotherapist and we can tell you what exercises will help you personally.  It’s well worth it because flat feet can be the root of pain in ankles, feet, calves, knees, hips or back.  If you are female and over 40, sorry to tell you but you’re more likely to have developed flat feet.  With an orthotic insole you’ll replace some of the natural support you do not have.  The net result really can be life changing! So if you are asking ‘do insoles help flat feet’? You have the answer, it’s yes.

Knee Pain

Pain in your knee joints can be debilitating. And though it can originate as a result of flat feet, it affects so many people we wanted to discuss it further.  Please don’t suffer in silence.  Knee pain can stop you doing the things you love. Have a think about trying some orthotic inserts. they help put your feet and lower legs in the position they are designed to be in.  This reduces pressure and pain. They are like a re-engineering of your limbs! They really can be a simple cure for knee pain.

Injury Prevention

This is particularly relevant to runners.  A running gait is seldom perfect.  If you are putting in the miles running, your feet are hitting the ground thousands of times over.  It stands to reason that over time runners are prone to injury. The worst thing about it for most runners is that injury or pain can stop them running.  An insole can boost the efficiency of your running and prevent injury.

If you can relate to any of the above you might want to explore orthotics as a simple cure for knee pain and other issues with your joints, muscles or tendons and ligaments.  The best way to start is to find a physiotherapist who can diagnose you and provide orthotic insoles. By seeing a physiotherapist you will also get be prescribed exercises to prevent anything getting worse in the future.  If you are taking painkillers at the moment then within a couple of weeks you should feel an improvement once you have worn in your inserts.  Orthotic insoles start at £35, which is a sound investment if you are in pain or discomfort.
